Having a working smoke detector more than doubles your chance of survival in the event of a residential fire!

Many fire related deaths could have been prevented with an earlyOnly works with a Fresh Battery! warning devise like a smoke detector. Often still, deaths occur in residential structures where smoke detectors are present but have been disabled or not maintained. RULES to remember:

  • Install a smoke detector on every floor and in common hallways of sleeping areas.

  • Test smoke detector batteries regularly.

  • Plan and practice Fire Escape routes in the event a fire occurs.

Smoke detector batteries should be replaced every six months (even if they are hardwired to AC.) Higher quality Aklaline batteries should be used. The Bainbridge Township Fire Department is available to assist our residents in changing smoke detector batteries as a regular part of our commitment to maintaining a safe community environment. Contact our fire station for direction.
